Well, a year or more has passed since starting this blog - must confess I forgot how to add comments (short term memory loss ;~ ).  I've been painting and enjoying some success on the local scene with 2 Best of Show Awards and more than a helf-dozen First Place in Oils Awards. I just joined the Oil Painters of America Society and hope to enter a painting in a nationally juried Show in 2013. My technique is evolving to a bit more detail in the horse and rider - and less adhearance to a landscape in the reference photo - and I will continue to take my own photos of cowboys and the horses....

We, as in you and me!

Life moves by pretty fast; I'm now a senior citizen with grown children. The publishing world has moved me out to pasture. But, I'm not particularly sad that it has. Now there is time in my life for art. Recently, I've worked with a bit more energy to achieve some personal goals related to painting. I realize there's plenty to learn about color, light and the interpretation of form in the things we see all around us. However, I had a good foundation with 8-years of college training. Now I must be my own worst critic to grow with each new work.
